DSS tube carrying sea water at approx. 40 degrees C perforated due to chloride pitting after a very short duration. Inside pressure is 5 bar. There was also evidence of erosion corrosion. I would think that this erosion was a bit abnormal. The outside medium is hydrocarbons and aqueous hydrogen sulphide at 50 degrees C. The perforation is inside out. What best alternative material is suggested ? I am thinking of Inconel 625 or 6Mo.
