    We continue to get varrying comments on the efficacy of salt spray test equivalent to the real time exposure in corrosion. This is primarily because salt spray test is a 'salt spray test' and cannot replicate the real time enviornment for any surface that needs to be protected.

    while, I am seeking a comparision chart of salt spray test hours to real time exposure it shall greatly help to learn if, there is a verifiable way in which the number of hours a surface has withstood the salt spray test can be compared to real time exposure.

    This is a very common question...the answer is that there is no correlation between salt spray and real time in the field. Infact, there are very few accelerated lab tests that can be used to correlate a material's performance to time in the field. For the most part, accelerated test results need to be compared to test results for other materials who's field performance is known.
